Golden Rule Garden is about 12,000-square-feet of growing space on Ridgewood Ranch that produces food for Christ's Church of the Golden Rule and provides an educational opportunity to interns of Ecology Action, where they practice and teach GROW BIOINTENSIVE Sustainable Mini-Farming.
Garden produce is also shared with the Senior Center, Daily Bread, and Plowshares, as it is available.
Garden Manager, Ellen Bartholomew, and garden interns will be available to answer questions and give informal tours. Demonstration of and participation in threshing and cleaning of grain will occur throughout the morning. A demonstration of compost building is scheduled for 10:00 am.
Standard garden vegetables, some flowers, a greenhouse of tomatoes and beans, summer grains (corn, sorghum, amaranth, quinoa, millet), and several less-common crops (Jerusalem artichokes, buckwheat, dry beans) are some of the crops that will be shown.
It is recommended to bring sun protection (hat, long sleeves, sun screen, etc). Water and sun tea will be provided. Bring a picnic lunch and a blanket to eat in the garden after the Open House.
Ridgewood Ranch is seven miles south of Willits and 15 miles north of Ukiah, off Highway 101. Follow the "Garden Tour" signs.
