Inspired by the beauty and fragility of the natural world and W. S. Merwin's poetry (from which it takes its title), the world premiere of Men Think They Are Better Than Grass explores the interrelationship between humanity and the environment. Conceived by Deborah Slater and co-directed by Deborah Slater & Jayne Wenger, Men Think incorporates dance, text, visual design, an original score and video. Celebrating 20 years of stunning, theatrically innovative work, DSDT's reciprocity between art, technology, and the stage is at the heart of Men Think, and will shape the creative process and performance experience for artists and audiences alike.

This work is made possible by the generous support of the Phyllis Wattis Fdn, Zellerbach Family Fund & the San Francisco Arts Commission.

Original music by Carla Kihlstedt & Matthias Bossi, environmental sound by Thom Blum. Set by Mikiko Uesugi, lighting by Allen Willner and video by Elaine Buckholtz.
