This great green event is over now!
August 22-26, 2011
The first Ecocity World Summit held in a northern climate city:
Conference presentations; A partnership with the CIVICUS World Alliance for Citizen Participation; Participatory workshops; A live Ecocity collaborative charette on the ground; Open-to-the-public session
Themes and cross-cutting topics:
Linking climate change with urban form and development processes; Urban eco-mobility (public and active transportation) and planning and design of public space, streets and green neighbourhoods; Governance approaches and democratic processes that support ecocity evolution; Urban economy in an ecocity; Built environment and health
A city that makes things happen...Montréal is an island in North America – geographically, linguistically, and culturally. The second largest francophone city in the world (after Paris), it is a cosmopolitan, international city, and a UNESCO City of Design. Montréal has a strong sense of place and a rich artistic and cultural pride, and is known for its sustainability policies and neighborhood grassroots initiatives.
