Turn OFF the TV and turn ON nature!

Calling all kids, parents, and teachers! The Biomimicry Institute invites you to join The Great TV Rebellion of 2010 by pledging to turn off your television and turn on nature. Our goal is for 5,000 people across the country to turn off their electronic devices (like TVs, computers, and video games) and go outside to play, learn, and interact with nature during Earth Week - April 19-25, 2010.

Kids: Take the pledge and then download The Great TV Rebellion Nature Journal. It will give you cool ideas of things to do outside during Earth Week, and has plenty of space to write about the fun things you did and saw. Once you’re done, share your stories with us!

Parents and Teachers: Take the pledge and then download The Great TV Rebellion Workbook. This guide contains suggested activities you can do with your kids or students during Earth Week, and interesting facts about biomimicry and nature.

The idea for the event is based on the song “The Great TV Rebellion,” written by Amy Martin and performed by Grammy Award winner Ani DiFranco and the Missoula Coyote Choir, a collection of children from Missoula, Montana. The song can be found on the album Ask the Planet, a project of The Biomimicry Institute.
