Join us for another fabulous weekend at the largest environmental film festival in the United States. The Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival sits apart from the hundreds of festivals around the world by leaving you feeling INSPIRED and MOTIVATED to go out and make a difference in your community and the world.

It’s a festival for activists by activists. The event is organized and hosted by the South Yuba River Citizens League. For 26 years this grassroots environmental organization has been bringing the community together around the protection of the Yuba Watershed.

At the festival, you’ll LEARN new ideas from a selection of inspiring environmental films with hardhitting topics including bioengineering, water issues, wilderness preservation, citizen activism, and more. You’ll EXPERIENCE the adrenalin of kayaking the wildest rivers, climbing the highest peaks, and trekking across the globe with adventure films from around the world. You’ll EXPLORE the issues and movements with leading environmental activists and professionals, filmmakers, and celebrities. And you’ll CELEBRATE the natural and wild world with 9+ venues of films and workshops, children's Saturday morning cartoons, art shows, wine tastings, a Gala Event, and awards ceremony.

All this and more at the largest (and most unique!) film festival of its kind in the US and in one of the most charming towns in the Sierra Nevada, NEVADA CITY, California.

    See website for more information.

How we are trying to make this event "green":

Please help us to make Wild & Scenic Green!

    * Ride your bike, carpool or take public transportation to Wild & Scenic. CHECK OUT http://wseff.erideshare.com (password: filmfest) to find or share a ride. There is also a BIG bulletin board at HQ. Please be sure to post your name and cell number if you are willing to give a ride to someone, or if you need a ride.
    * Bring your own REUSABLE COFFEE MUG to our event. Use your own coffee mug at concessions, and get a discount on coffee.
    * Create a festival bag (or backpack). In your reusable bag, put a cloth napkin and your OWN REUSABLE SERVINGWARE. Although we have compostable utensils at Wild & Scenic, using your own utensils is far more sustainable.
    * Bring your own REUSABLE BAGS for shopping at Film Sales and at HQ for T-shirts. Then go watch the great film, Bag It, on Saturday or Sunday. Be on the lookout for ChicoBag’s Bag Monster!
    * Use the recycling and composting bins at the event. Let’s get as close to ZERO WASTE as possible. Think before you throw - there are signs that will help you to separate your recyclables and compostables.
    * Are you buying a Weekend Pass? Bring your own REUSABLE LANYARD.
    * Look for the special recycling boxes in each venue - please be sure to RECYCLE YOUR PASS HOLDERS AND PROGRAMS before you leave the festival.
    * Do you have an ELECTRIC CAR? There is an electric car charging station at the back of the Miners Foundry.
    * Don’t forget to bring your OWN REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE. No bottled water is sold at the festival. There are water fountains or taps at each venue. Plus, there are 2 water filters at the Miners Foundry, a generous donation from CoolerSmart. (And if you’re still not convinced about the impacts of bottled water, check out the great film, Tapped, playing Saturday & Sunday.)
    * If you need to BUY A REUSABLE BAG, MUG, OR WATER BOTTLE, check out: NC T-shirt Shop, Contrast, Scotchbroom, JJ Jacksons, Yabobo, Gray Goose, Xtasia, Being Green, or Laloo!
    * And lastly - how about buying some CARBON OFFSETS to cover your trip to the festival? Go to www.nativeenergy.com, www.terrapass.com, or www.carbonfund.org.

Thank you to the following for their help in the Greening of Wild & Scenic!
