The Not-So-Simple Living Fair 2010 is presented by the Anderson Valley Foodshed Group to develop and share skills, knowledge, and experience for rural living.
Thirty some years ago in Anderson Valley the Simple Living Fair made its debut at the Boonville Fairgrounds. The driving force then was a group of back-to-the-land refugees from urban venues who had the desire and hope to make this agricultural work relevant; cooperating with and respecting nature; and moving a lot of dirt. This summer at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds in Boonville on July 31st and August 1st the Anderson Valley Foodshed has organized a retrospective and brand new version called the NOT So Simple Living Fair.
Saturday will feature workshops throughout the day, followed by a local food dinner and potluck and keynote speakers. Music for dancing by Pura Vida and a film screening will round out the evening.
Sunday morning will feature the stories of some of the county's farming families followed by lunch and afternoon workshops.
Displays and demonstrations, Conversation Café, Barter Blanket area, and Marketplace will be on-going throughout the weekend. Participants will have the opportunity to share skills and ideas as well.
Doors open at 9 am. Some camping will be available both Friday and Saturday nights. $20.00 admission, additional fee for camping. Volunteers to expand the crew are most welcome.
Schedule to be announced.

The Anderson Valley Foodshed Group works toward a vibrant, healthy local food system for our community, celebrating our local foods, farmers and gardeners. They aim to increase our capacity to grow a diverse, year-long supply of food for all who live here. They work toward these goals through education, connecting people to each other, and creating new opportunities to grow, process and enjoy locally grown food. They publish the 'Mendocino County's Local Food Guide,' which lists 72+ Mendocino County food producers.
