The Eco Rally Action Sports Zone (formerly Eco Cup), featuring continuous skateboarding, contests and a public street course (BYO Board), and live music by skate rock legends Fishbone, rising stars The Expendables, plus a rare semi-acoustic performance by Slightly Stoopid and other very special guests. How we are trying to make this event "green":
Living GREEN requires ACTION
Green Mary brings it all back to where it started, as together we focus on making as little trash as possible, building soil from our organic waste, and maximizing reuse by concentrating on our individual habits. Good housekeeping for Mother Earth means behaving out at public events the way we do at home where we are stewards of our resources.
Live in Harmony:
* CARPOOL or take public transportation - FILL YOUR CAR SEATS!
* PACK REUSABLES - plates, drinking cups/mugs, utensils, cloth napkins
* USE CANVAS OR REUSABLE BAGS for all of your belongings
* RECYCLE & COMPOST all you can at EcoStations throughout the Harmony Festival. Non-disposables, including cook stove fuel tanks, batteries, hazardous waste, etc., can be brought to any dumpster area where we have special containers, or to Harmony Central where we will dispose of it properly. Here and at home, it is ill-advised and illegal to deposit these materials in the regular trash.
In Harmony With Our Waste
Composting
We are still composting ALL food scraps, including meat and bones, all paper food service supplies – plates, hot cup, napkins, and dry office paper and m. All food vendors are provided compost containers and we will still generate a lot of good soil from the event!
No more bioplastics in the compost
In Sonoma County, we can no longer compost bioplastic food service supplies such as utensils and cups made of corn. We also cannot compost any paper food service supplies with any sort of waxy coating, so at this particular event, we have to do a lot of sorting to make it all right.
New recycling cans
Since we are going to have to sort every bag anyway, we are asking everyone to simply pay attention to getting the recycling in the right place. Around the entire festival, there are just two cans for recycling and then one for "all other materials." We will sort it all out at the dumspters, promise.
