On Thursday, September 16th Sustainable Works along with Platinum Sponsors LACarGuy.com, the largest hybrid dealership in the world, will be hosting a local, community-based, sustainability-minded fundraising event at Writer’s Boot Camp in Bergamot Station (2525 Michigan Avenue, Building I, Santa Monica, CA 90405) from 6pm-11pm. The theme for the night is “Creating Sustainable Communities Everyday”, supporting the Sustainable Works urgent mission to sustainably transform communities, colleges, and businesses through environmental education and action.

The event will feature organic beer, and wine, an eco-friendly silent auction and drawing, an educational green room and an artist’s gallery. The silent auction with feature donations from local businesses such as The Ambrose Hotel, Earthflow: Permaculture for Humanity, Akasha Restaurant, YogaWorks, Sheraton Delfina, Willow Spa, Patagonia and Jurlique with artists including Shepard Fairey, Todd Bank, Sara Bayles with The Daily Ocean, Marina Deb Ris, and Julie Kornblum. Organic local cuisine from Urth Caffé will follow with an update on the organization and Eco Star Award winners. The Eco Star Award is handed out to an environmental champion at a business, a local resident, and a student who have excelled and inspired the concepts of sustainability into their lives and others. Comedian and Santa Monica resident Jake Johannsen will be hosting the evening, followed by dancing.

Sustainable Works is teaming up with Jack Johnson on his 2010 To The Sea Tour and All At Once, a social action network connecting nonprofits with people who want to become active in their local and world community.

Help us raise funds! Jack Johnson's new charity, the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation, is matching every dollar contributed to Sustainable Works, up to $2500, until October 1, 2010. Join us at the Sustainable Works fundraiser and make your donation multiple!
