Water scarcity and our deteriorating water system are already major issues for many communities. This July, with your help, we're going to bring much needed energy and exposure to this issue.

Sign up to host a Green The Block Day of Action event. Utilize our online resources to hold a workshop, screen a movie that highlights the problems and solutions in our water system, or approach your local government about investing in sound sustainable water infrastructure.

Whatever you do, get out and let folks know that Greening our Block means ensuring that everyone has access to clean drinking water, and that we're doing all we can to create more sustainable water infrastructure.

See website linked above for details. Sign up your event to receive more support, and get information and media help leading up to your event.

IDEAS in Orlando, Florida was one of the first groups to register an event for Green The Block’s National Water Action Day so we immediately checked out their organization. IDEAS, which stands for Intellectual Decisions on Environmental Awareness Solutions, was started by college students in Orlando. They work to highlight the environmental issues in their community through research, action, and awareness, and then to educate, engage, and empower the members of their community to work towards a sustainable future.

IDEAS was founded in 2008 at the University of Central Florida with a lake cleanup that had only 5 students, and only three years later it is active at 10 universities across the US and has projects in Costa Rica and Haiti!
